i swear i wake up and another MONTH has flown by

wow, it is now frigging September 2010. how does that HAPPEN?!!!!
i didn't do one workout the whole month of August and now the 1st week of september has blown past me at warp speed... maybe we invented time travel and didn't know it?!
i did spend alot of hrs the past month and this labor day weekend planting veggies... it's the start of fall planting season which takes extra time to get the fall and some winter veggies started.

so although i didn't get aerobic exercise, i was walking around garden alot.

my plan is to grow ORGANIC FOOD for 6 people this fall and winter: my household, plus Mom, plus DS/fiancee. some seeds have already sprouted that i planted on Fri due to our warm weather. i'm switching over to planting beds made w/ flakes of alfalfa and hay bales. so i am getting some exercise hauling my trash cans of compost to front yard. turns out if you ignore green waste in trash cans that have holes in bottom the worms eventually work their way through... so possibly the 'compost' is mainly worm castings. sure to grow prime veggies. i started a KALE wheelbarrow filled w/ the same material.

here's what i'm eating from my garden: pole green beans grown in pots, american eggplant, assorted HOT peppers, green bell peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, swiss chard, several types of kale, collard greens, assorted lettuces, arugula, new zealand spinach, yellow crook neck and pattypan squash, beet greens off of years old beets, mint, basil. a few strawberries, ditto some slowly ripening figs. turns out the rootstock sucker from my bonzana dwarf peach produces golfball sized WHITE peaches w/ a rose scent..

for breakfast this morning i made WRAPS using cooked pinto beans i pureed in mini food processor, red onion, some processed cheese(okay not the healthiest choice but all i had on hand) taco sauce, just picked warm early girl tomatoes, either wrapped up in just picked collard or swiss chard leaves. i love the CRUNCH of the collard but my leaves are small... the swiss chard was very tender and delicious... this swiss chard plant is several years old, the base of plant is like a tree branch 5 -6 inches in diameter. i just keep whacking it back so it produces tender new leaves.

sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo now that i'm definitely on a roll eating healthy FRESH veggies it is time to get on the treadmill, or the recumbent bike or walk the neighborhood.....

btw, DH lost 18 lbs just walking 3.2 miles 4-5 times a wk, course we do have HILLS in our neighborhood... he was able to qualify for new life insurance policy at the lowest PREFERRED rate... huge $$$S savings to us yearly plus he is healthier i'm sure..

This month we are celebrating 36 years of marriage, once again time FLIES by...

since i'm home alone, i'm heading to the garage will watch some US Open tennis while i bike. i will hold myself accountable and check back in here AFTERWARDS...
